A grandson of the count of Foix-vicomte of Béarn, Gaston I de Foix, through his bastard son, Pey de Béarn, his father. He had been captain of the routiers of Lourdes in the early 1370s, was general lieutenant of Gaston III Fébus. in Marsan c.1380-1382. He led the routier troops who attacked the region of Casteljaloux, a possession of the lord of Albret, between 1383 and 1385, and he became general lieutenant in the county of Foix in 1398. Johan de Béarn captain of the routiers of Lourdes from the 1370s to 1407, was his brother. Described as lord of the house of Estang in 1405, and of Pujo in 1409. Appointed seneschal of the Landes in 1387. Kt, granted a licence to take wheat bought in England to Bordeaux in 1392.
