Notes

Going to Gascony in the king's service, and staying there in the company of Edward of Woodstock in 1365, and staying there in 1366. Immediately before a letter of protection for this individual on C 61/78, m5, there is a protection for another Ralph Basset of Drayton. If these are separate people, then the baron had a son who predeceased him without issue, though this does not seem to be recognised elsewhere. It is possible that the baron had more than one protection. 4th baron of Drayton, who enjoyed a long military career, dying with no male issue in 1390. Of Drayton, kt.
