Notes

Assumed the title of 'King of Scots', and was crowned on 24 September 1332. He was subsequently expelled in September 1332, but restored in 1333-36. He was considerably handicapped in his position by the surrender of vast tracts of the lowlands to Edward III, and by his formal acknowledgment of Edward III as his over lord in November 1333. He surrendered all claim to the throne to Edward III on 20 January 1356. He died in January 1364.
